Punji – Punji pits, stakes and traps. Used primarily by the enemy as unattended booby traps. Punji sticks are sharpened and usually fire hardened sticks made from bamboo. Reputedly can be sufficiently to penetrate thin steel. Traps ranged from simple small foot traps to larger more lethal, tension release traps. Frequently enhancement by the enemy included introduction of opportunistic substances, such as human excrement.
